Multidisciplinary Intensive Computing for Research Activities
of European Scientists

Call for Candidatures

CINECA, a consortium made up of 15 Italian universities (http://www.cineca.it), has been appointed, because of its large-scale scientific and technical facilities, as a centre for the application of super-computing in interdisciplinary research activities. This Cail for Candidatures aims at selecting European researchers who can spend a research period at CINECA Supercomputing Centre fuliy supported by the MINOS Project (Multidisciplinary INtensive computing for research activities Of European Scientists). The access is supported by the European Commission Access to Research Infrastructures action of the improving Human Potential Programme. Under the IVSINOS Project, that is the follow up of the ICARUS Project. CINECA is able to host Researchers through March 2003 so that the European Researchers may make use of the resources and services here available (more info on http://minos.cineca.it). Disciplines covered by the multidisciplinary project are:

biotechnologies, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences,
economics,
engineering, human sciences, mathematics, physics.

With regard to the supercomputing aspect of the project, CINECA will provide the hosted European Researchers with training, parallel supercomputing facilities, access to the scientific visualisation laboratory and to on-line information service. The Researchers will be provided with the support of CINECA experts for the best use of resources available. Hosted Researchers will be supported for travel and accommodation expenditures too. Candidates are requested to fill the form available on the Web at URL http://minos.cineca.it/.

European Union citizens of the foilowing countries are eligible:

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy,
Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, United Kingdom.

Moreover are eligible people coming from the associated countries to the IHP programme (which is expected to enter into force in January 2001):

Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Latvia,
Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland.

Italian citizens conducting their research in Italy are not eligible.

Candidature evaluations are based on a continuous submission scheme.
