Scientific interests and investigations

I. Phyllosilicates (clay minerals):

interstratified minerals - X-ray diffraction study (further details here), modeling one-dimensional diffraction patterns, HRTEM study as a tool of verification calculated models, unravelling of layer silicate growth on the basis of their structural model,
daughter and parent layer silicates as evidenced by inherited motif of parent mineral structure,
clay mineral and concomitant phase mineralogical record of weathering, hydrothermal processes and very low grade metamorphism.

Material:
altered ultramafic rocks from Sleza ophiolite (Lower Silesia),
metavolcanic rocks from Fore-Sudetic Monocline, generated by very low grade metamorphism.

II. Ultramafic and mafic rocks:

protolith of different metamorphic, hydrothermally altered, and weathered rocks recognised on the basis of their primary meso- and microtextures, characterisation of relic and newly formed phases, geochemical characteristics and its probable subsequent modification,
petrological, mineralogical and geochemical signature used for revealing the geodynamic position of mafic and ultramafic rocks.

Material:
serpentinites from Sleza ophiolite (Lower Silesia),
rodingites (by-products of serpentinisation of ultramafic rocks) Sleza ophiolite,
Rotliegendes basic volcanic rocks from Gorzow Wielkopolski region (Fore-Sudetic Monocline), underlying oil and gas deposits of Barnowko-Mostno-Buszewo,
ultrabasic rocks from Gory Sowie (Lower Silesia).
