Początkowo wydawało mi się, że wszystko, co śpiewał Leonard Cohen, jest wspaniałe, ale to wrażenie minęło szybko. Do dziś z wielką przyjemnością słucham Dance me to the end of love i The Law, inne ballady Cohena robią już na mnie mniejsze wrażenie. Ale lubię płytę Various positions z roku 1984 (choć nie lubię jej tytułu). Wyjechałem w roku 1985 do Tybingi i tam, na rogu, przy Dolnym Rynku, w sklepie muzycznym "od ręki" kupiłem płytę, o której w Polsce wówczas można było tylko pomarzyć. Jako jeszcze nowość kosztowała sporo, 18,90 DM (około 10 euro). Najwyraźniej dystrybutor nie był pewien powodzenia płyty, ponieważ umieścił na niej samoprzylepną nalepkę "Includes Dance me to the end of love and Hallelujah". Płyta dobra, nagrane na niej są takie ballady, których można oczekiwać po Cohenie. A Dance me to niewątpliwie jedna z najpiękniejszych ballad miłosnych.
