     The three-years-long licentiate studies at the Faculty of Geology are common for all the students. Problems of the mineralogical sciences during these studies are represented by lectures of geochemistry and lectures and classes of mineralogy, petrology and other (see the list of the lectures with the given courses).
     The two-years-long M. Sc. studies in the Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Petrology may be choosen by the students during the third course by acceptation of the theme of the M. Sc. dissertation; the appropriate list is proposed by the scientific workers of the Institute who have at least Doctor's degree. The M. Sc. dissertation may be prepared in the field of one of the freely selected specialisations taught at the Institute (i.e. geochemistry, mineralogy or petrology), or in the joint fields given above.
     The program of the studis for the 4th and 5th courses comprises all important aspects of the mineralogical sciences (detailed program is presented further). Special attention is paid to the teaching of work with the modern investigating devices, being the equipment of the Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and  Petrology of the University of Warsaw (optic microscopes  and scanning electron microscope SEM, electron microprobe, X-ray diffractometer, devices for the  ICP and AAS analysis etc.). This allows the graduates to get a job not only as geochemist, mineralogist or petrologist, but also in other fields of science or industry, where the knowledge of methods of investigations of solid substances is necessary.
