Amber coin
On the 20th of February, 2001,
a silver 20 zlotys coin was issued in Poland, with a round
cabochon of amber placed in the upper part of the coin. The coin
was prepared to commemorate the "Amber Route" (Szlak
Bursztynowy), which in the ancient times led from the
present-day Polish country to Rome. The Amber Route is marked in
the part of the Europe map with asterisks. Moreover, the coin
design presents one of the ancient Roman coins found by
archeologists in Poland and the ancient Roman vase. The coin was
issued in the amount of 30,000 and was sold at the price of 57
zlotys (ca. 16 US$) per item. |
