Research topics:

behaviour of natural and anthropogenic soils under static and dynamic loadings;

qualitative and quantitative estimation of strength and deformability parameters of cohesive soils contaminated by hydrocarbone;

prognosis of physical-mechanical properties of soils on the basis of their structure tests;

prognosis of quantitative changes of geological environment as a result of: landslides, suffosion, liquefaction, long-lasting filtration, sedimentation in river valleys, wastes storage;

theoretic basis of geological-engineering documentation using software;

prognosis of geological-engineering conditions changes;

Laboratory and field equipment:

for quantitative test of microstructure SEM;

for test of soil under static and dynamic loadings (static triaxial apparatus, cyclic triaxial apparatus, shear box apparartus, triaxial chamber with bender elements, vane test apparatus, Rowe's consolidometer);

Field equipment for soil stiffness profile determination, using surface wave geophysics (SASW, CSWS);

for soil suction and filtration tests in clay soils (Geonor permeability apparatus, oedometer with suction control, psychrometer, tensiometers);

for site investigations: MTL81R drill rig, BAT-piezometer, automatic dynamic sounding, CPT, shear vane test, Menard's pressuremeter, Marchetti's dilatometer DMT, Nenzi samplers, GPS-system;
