I was born in 1940. I have been working in Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology at Warsaw University for 39 years. I work as a full professor and I am concerned with the application of engineering geology, geotechnique and soil mechanics in civil engineering.

I lecture for students on soil mechanics, foundation engineering, engineering geology and applied geology. Recently I am also responsible for students who are preparing their master and doctor thesis and for licentiate students as well.

I am particularly interested in:

engineering-geological properties of soils,

behaviour of soils subjected to static and dynamic loadings,

prognosis of slope stability,

engineering-geological estimation of subsoil conditions.

I have already published about 130 articles and 5 monographs (author and co-author). Moreover I have carried out 150 geological-engineering and geotechnical expertises connected with:

residential buildings and roads,

foundation of dams,

sulphur and brown coal open pits.

Since 1979 I have been a deputy director and director of Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology. From 1990 I am also a head of Department Engineering Geology.

Membership:

Int. Ass. Of Engineering Geology and Environment, Int. Soc. For Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.

Rewards:
three awards of Education Ministry.

Hobbies:
bridge, chess, allotment.

I have two children and I am a grandfather of twins.
