Planetology (Prof. Jacek Leliwa-Kopystyński). The Solar System and the Planetary System. Ranges of distances, of masses, of time, of energy. Classification of the Solar System bodies (sizes and densities of the bodies, energy production in the interiors). Accretion processes and differentiation of the planets. Composition of the Solar System bodies. Internal structure of the terrestrial planets, of the giant planets, of the icy satellites, and of the minor bodies. Impact phenomena: cratering and disruption. The Earth as a planet. Spherical-symmetric modeling of the Earth interior.

Physics of the atmosphere (Prof. Hanna Pawlowska): Atmosphere of the Earth (vertical structure of the atmosphere, global wind patterns and vertical motion of the air, cloud formation and cloud microphysical processes, atmospheric radiation, greenhouse effect, ozone layer and its prevention).

Physics of the Earth interior (Prof. Marek Grad): Seismology and seismotectonics (distribution of earthquakes, magnitude and energy of earthquake, Mercalli and Richter scale, body P and S waves in the elastic medium, models of the earthquake source, Jeffreys-Bullen travel time, waves in the Earth's interior, structure of the Earth - crust, mantle, core, deep seismic sounding of the lithosphere). Gravity and magnetic field of the Earth (gravity anomalies and crustal structure, inversions of magnetic field, magnetic anomalies, palaeomagnetism). Continental drift (lithospheric plates, heat flow, trench and ridge, subduction zone, rift, convection in the Earth, reconstruction of tectonic plates).
