Dawson City Museum and Historical Society
Dawson City , Yukon

The Dawson City Museum is located in the Yukon's premier heritage building, the Old Territorial Administration Building, in Dawson City, the golden heart of the Klondike. This not-for-profit corporation is governed by a 6-person board of trustees, has two full-time staff and grant-project employees as funding permits. The Museum was founded informally in the early 1950s and incorporated in 1959. It moved into the O.T.A.B. in 1961. Major renovations were carried out in 1986. The Museum operates with a consolidated budget of ca. $900,000 per year, cares for close to 30,000 artifacts and photographs, welcomes 20,000 visitors each year, and is a partner in heritage research, preservation and planning throughout the Territory.
