STUDIES |
The studies at the Faculty of Geology are intramural and last five years; they finish by obtaining the Master of Science degree. The studies need to learn theoretical knowledge but also to adopt various practical skills; they comprise a large number of the field courses as well, thus certain physical efficiency is necessary. A part of the field courses is housed in the Faculty own Field Station in the Holy Cross Mountains, Central Poland. The lectures and classes during the first three years of the studies are identical for all the students; afterwards, the students choose their specialisations and their tutors for the M.Sc. theses (which are prepared during the two last years of the studies). From the third year of the studies onwards, the plan of the studies offers a large selection of the lectures and classes for the individual students’ choices.
Currently, the Faculty of Geology teaches in
seven specialisations:
1) stratigraphic-prospecting geology
2) Quaternary geology
3) paleontology
4) geochemistry mineralogy and petrology
5) engineering geology
6) hydrogeology
7) environment protection
Moreover, the students can obtain the teacher's qualifications.
