Mikołaj K. Zapalski

 

 

 

Research interests:

·           Devonian and Carboniferous tabulate corals,

·           Parasitism in fossil record,

·           History of mining industry in Polish Tatra Mts.

 

I am a Ph. D. student at the Faculty of Geology (Warsaw University, Poland) and at Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille (Laboratoire de Paléontologie et Paléogeographie du Paléozoïque/Laboratoire de Paléontologie stratigraphique – UMR 8014 CNRS – France).

I am preparing my Ph. D. thesis on tabulate corals from the Devonian of the southern region of the Holy Cross Mts., Poland

My tutors are Prof. Jerzy Trammer (Warsaw University) and Prof. Bruno Mistiaen (USTL).

 

My research is being financed by Institut Supérieur d'Agriculture in Lille (France), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique - UMR 8014 LP3 (France) and Faculty of Geology, Warsaw University. I am a holder of French Governement Scholarship.

Other interests:

Since 2001 I have been practicing alpine climbing, mainly in the Tatra Mts. I collect banknotes and coins.

 

I was leading:

·          Excursion of KNPT UW to Ireland and Scotland (2002),

·          Expedition “Langtang Himal 2005” of the Polish Tatra Society.

 

I am an ordinary member of the High Mountain Club - Warsaw, Österreichischer Alpenverein and Polish Tatra Society (in 1999-2003 I was the Secretary of the Bureau of  Warsaw Branch) .
